***2021 Fall Season Info Coming Soon!***
2021 Spring Season + Summer Camp - Empowering Girls is never cancelled!
At Girls on the Run, we know that strong girls lead to a strong future. While 2020 has brought many challenges to our community, we remain committed to bringing girls the opportunity to connect to peers, receive the support of mentors, build self-confidence, and practice skills for navigating life experiences!
This past 2020 Fall season, over 120 girls participated in our program, including 11 in-person and 3 virtual teams. By following the guidelines of the CDC and local health department, there have been no transmissions of Covid-19 linked to in-person practices this fall. We are very proud and grateful, and will be extending these careful policies through our 2021 Spring Season.
By signing her up for our program, you are giving her the opportunity to safely connect with other girls in our community in an inclusive and empowering space. We are READY for spring and hope you and your girl will join us!

Why Girls on the Run?
We know the pandemic, uncertainties about the future, and the isolation many are facing during social distancing are challenging the mental and physical health of our young people (and their adults). What we also know is that our girls are strong and resilient, and Girls on the Run is here to provide support for your girl in the most quality, accessible way this fall. While this program is not the only answer, we hope to offer your girl an opportunity to connect to her peers, receive the support of mentors, build her self-confidence, and practice skills for navigating life experiences!
For more about why this matters, check out this article from the National Education Association about prioritizing social-emotional learning during COVID-19.

Financial Assistance
We believe EVERY girl is full of power and potential, regardless of her family’s financial situation. We have Financial Assistance ready for you! Our policy is simple: If you need it, you get it. Financial Assistance is automatically awarded during registration (there’s no waiting for approval) and includes an “Open Offer.”
Curriculum "Flex" Overview
The Girls on the Run (3rd-5th) and Heart & Sole (6th-8th) programs combine training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that teach girls critical life skills and inspire them to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions.
We have adapted our program to “flex” between in-person and virtual lessons, or to be done entirely virtually. When schools and sites are in session, our programming can be delivered as in the past, with enhanced safety procedures and social distancing measures in place. Should school and site closures take place once again, the program can be easily transitioned to a virtual model, with lessons that mirror the in-person program. Once sites re-open, teams will return to in-person meetings without skipping a beat. This “flex” programming model will ensure that participants will experience the full social, emotional, and physical outcomes of our programs and allow teams to adjust to local school and community changes throughout the season. See graphic below.
In our Flex Curriculum, teams of 6-12 girls will meet twice per week for eight weeks, from March 1 - April 30. In-person lessons are 75 minutes and virtual lessons are 60 minutes.

Virtual Program
Our Virtual Curriculum covers the same content as our in-person curriculum formatted to fit the virtual space. Our program is more than just another Zoom call! We know the fatigue of virtual learning is real; however, our virtual program will get your girl up and moving while having discussions with her peers! Some quick notes about our virtual program:
- Lessons are 60 minutes each
- Teams will have the option to complete 20-30 Workout Portion together or separately
- Virtual teams are a great way to make friends with other GOTR/H&S girls across our community!
- There are activity challenges for participants to try to complete in-between virtual lessons to help her stay active.
- Parent/guardians may need to help their girl access the call but do not need to engage in the lesson with her - we have trained coaches there to take care of this!
- Girls can also dial-in to virtual lessons if access to a computer or internet is limited.
