Become a *Sparkle Runner*
Want to make a difference and be involved with Girls on the Run but don't have the time to dedicate to being a coach? We always need Sparkle Runners for our end of the season 5K events! Our Sparkle Runners serve in key roles on race morning, including:
On Race Morning, we will provide you with fun, sparkly gear to wear and assign you a role. Please note: we aren't able to assign/guarantee Running Buddy roles because it depends on how many girls need a buddy that morning.
Because Sparkle Runners will complete the 5K Course, receive 5K swag (including shirt, medal, etc.) and extra Sparkle gear, you must register for the 5K, and select "Sparkle Runner" as your category. Click here for registration on our 5K page.
- Running Buddy - Paired one-on-one with GOTR Girls (subject to background check)
- The Sweep - A big sparkly group of you will be the Sweep so no girl finishes last! (Sparkle Runners not assigned to the Sweep can finish the race and then head back to join the rest of the Sparkle Squad in the Sweep!)
- Moving Cheer Leaders - we will pair you in groups of 2-3, and send you out to be the most high ENERGY, MOTIVATING, HIGH-FIVING runners on the course. Interact with as many girls as you can to let them know you believe in them and they can do this!
- Eyes and Ears - All Sparkle Runners are our eyes and ears on the course. We need you out there making sure runners are ok and the course is secure. You will need to carry your cell phone, and we will give you a card to run with a Race Committee member's cell phone.
